Petition of MPs against custody leaders

MP R AM Ubaidul Moktadir Chowdhury has filed a complaint against 14 people including the president-general secretary of the district branch of Hefazte Islam in Brahmanbaria to take a case under the Digital Security Act. The manifesto has been accused of plotting and planning violence to overthrow the government.

Ubaidul Moktadir Chowdhury is the Member of Parliament for Brahmanbaria-3 (Sadar and Vijaynagar) Constituency. On behalf of the MP, his lawyer and city Awami League legal affairs secretary Abdul Jabbar submitted the statement to the Sadar Model Police Station on Saturday evening. Another 100-150 unnamed people are accused in the statement.

Inspector of Police (Investigation) Muhammad Shahjahan, who is the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Brahmanbaria Sadar Police Station, confirmed the authenticity of the ejahar. He told Prothom Alo that the statement of the MP's case has been accepted at the police station. The Digital Security Act requires permission and instructions from higher authorities of the police before registering a case. The matter has been reported to higher authorities. The case is under process. Further action will be taken as directed by higher authorities.
