Satkhira is a crime against humanity case

Satkhira The police have arrested four people including the former Upazila Vice Cheterman in Shyamnagar.

They were arrested from different areas including Munshiganj and Ishwaripur at midnight on Tuesday (September 6).

The arrested persons are former upazila vice chairman SM Mohsin-ul-Mulk of Shyamnagar, Quddus Gazi of Srifalkati, GM Mohiuddin and Fajr Gazi of Munshiganj. They are said to be accused of international war crimes case and person.

Shyamnagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi O'tahid Murshed said that on October 10, 1972, Surendranath Mandal of Kadamtala village of Shyamnagar upazila was picked up from the ground and shot dead.

On April 26, 2009, Chandana Rani Mandal of the deceased Surendranath Mandal filed a case for murdering him.

The court issued an arrest warrant against the accused and the OC also learned that the four accused had been sent to Dhaka.
