Smugglers arrested with gold worth crores of rupees at Sharsha border

A young man named Jalal Uddin (35) was arrested by Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) members with 15 gold bars worth Tk 1 crore 25 lakh 28 thousand worth Tk 1 crore 25 lakh 28 thousand in Goga border of Sharsha Upazila of Jessore. A motorcycle used for trafficking was also seized.

On Tuesday (September 20) around 11 am, the smuggler was arrested with a gold bar from a brick kiln near Goga Bazar.

The arrested Jalal Uddin is the son of Ali Kadam of Putkhali village of Benapole Port police station.

Khulna 21 Border Guard Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Mohammad Tanveer Rahman (PSC, Engineers) said that a special patrol team of BGB's headquarters was arrested by a special patrol team of BGB's headquarters near Goga Bazar and went to Goga camp.

On the confession of the smuggler, 15 gold bars hidden in the motorcycle were recovered, the weight of which is 1 kg 652 grams. Its market value is Tk 1 crore 25 lakh 28 thousand. A case has been filed against the arrested gold smuggler and Sharsha police station has been handed over.

Achina, Lieutenant Colonel Tanveer Rahman also said that the border area patrol activities have been strengthened to prevent gold smuggling and such activities will be increased.
