Raju Hossain Imon has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the court in Laxmipur's Raipur human trafficking case. On Wednesday (March 4) at around 11:30 a.m., Laxmipur Human Trafficking Prevention and Suppression Tribunal Judge Mohammad Sirajuddaulah Kutubi gave the verdict.
The state lawyer confirmed the verdict in Abul Basha's case. Convicted Emon is the son of deceased Harunur Rashid of Bamni Union of Raipur Upazila. According to court sources, Bamani village of Raipur said. Iman had a land dispute with Hanif.
On November 2, 2016, Hanif's baby son Abdullah (4) was playing in a local field. At one point Eamon kidnapped the child. Later sold the child to unknown people for 30 thousand rupees. On November 29, Amena Begum, the child's mother, filed a case in Raipur police station as the plaintiff, not finding the child at the possible place. Later on December 1, the police rescued the child from Chandpur district.
The police filed a charge sheet in the court accusing 3 people in this incident. The court sentenced Eamon to rigorous imprisonment as he was found guilty after taking lengthy testimony and hearing. At the same time, a fine of 50,000 taka and another 3 months imprisonment was ordered in default of payment. The court acquitted Shahida Begum and Farida Yasmin as they were found innocent in the same case. The sentenced accused Eamon was not present in the court during the verdict.
