Bangladesh is 'free from the UK's red list'

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said that Bangladesh has been freed from the UK's 'Red List' due to the reduction in the number of corona infections. He gave this information in a video message posted on his Facebook timeline on Friday (September 17) morning.

The good news is that the British government has de-listed Bangladesh on our request. Many thanks to the British government.'

The Minister of State also said, 'During my recent visit, I requested everyone at various levels of the British government, including the Foreign Minister and the current one, that it is in no way appropriate to put Bangladesh, a 50-year-old friend, on the 'Red List'. Besides, about five to six thousand British citizens live in Bangladesh. They are also being wronged through this red list.' He also said, 'I am happy to announce that the British government has freed Bangladesh from the red list and brought it to a normal level, for which we express our gratitude to them.'

Incidentally, earlier, from April 9, 2020, the country's Department for Transport banned 60 countries including Bangladesh from entering the UK under the red list. At the same time, UK citizens are also restricted from traveling to these countries.
