Determining the price of the skin of sacrificial animals

The Ministry of Commerce has decided the price of raw chamaja of the sacrificial animal, but the price is higher than last year, and the decision was taken at a meeting to determine the price of the chamja held at the Ministry of Commerce on Thursday.

This year, the price of salted raw chamja for the capital has been fixed at Tk 40 to Tk 45 per square foot and outside Dhaka, this year, Khasir Chama is fixed at Tk 15 to Tk 17 per square foot, and goat chamza is fixed at Tk 12 to Tk 14.

However, at the beginning of the meeting, Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh proposed to fix the price of salted raw chamja for Dhaka this year at Tk 50 to Tk 55 per square foot and outside Dhaka. This Chasa is proposed to be Tk 20 to Tk 22 per square foot.

However, the Chamalikars who were present at the meeting expressed disagreement with the price, they demanded to raise the price of 5 rupees for the price fixed last year.

Later, after many discussions at the end of the meeting, in the face of the demands of the businessmen, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi announced the price of cow chama at 5 taka per square foot and Khasir Chama at 2 taka or khasi chama.

In the meeting, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said, ‘We have fixed the price of Chamja to ensure the fair price of Chamaja.’

Last year, the price of salted raw chama for Dhaka was 35 to 40 taka per square foot, and outside Dhaka was 28 to 32 taka.

Business leaders including Industry Secretary Zakita Sultana, Bangladesh Tanners Association (BTA) President Shaheen Ahmed spoke.
