Purple rice tea in Ishwarganj

In Ishwarganj, the nutritious purple rice is being cultivated in the upazila, Nazrul Islam, a farmer in Haruta block of Maizbagh Unit of the upazila, has cultivated purple rice in 10th century land.

According to agriculture office sources, this rice of Ufshi variety is very less infestation of disease and insects.From planting to ripening paddy, it takes 145-155 days to ripen. Farmer Nazrul said that he has got many benefits from planting purple rice.

Assistant Agriculture Officer Sohel Rana said, the cultivation system of this rice is like normal rice. Upazila Agriculture Officer Sadhan Kumar Guha Majumdar said that purple rice has been cultivated in an acre of land in the upazila.
