The prices of daily commodities ranging from vegetables, fish and rice are being sold on the pretext of lockdown, rain and early flood in the last few days. If there is sufficient supply of vegetables, spices and rice in the market, on the contrary, the prices of these have increased.
As Eid al-Adha is approaching, spices are being sold at higher prices in the market. According to Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) daily market price list, medium quality rice per kg is being sold at 2.91 percent higher than the same period last week.
During the week, the price of bay leaf per kg increased by 9.38 percent, cumin by 2.75 percent, imported ginger by 13.33 percent, imported garlic by 11.54 percent. Small cardamom is being sold at a higher price of Tk 50 per kg. During the month, desi turmeric is being sold at 29.41 percent and coriander at 2 percent higher price per kg.
This information was learned after visiting the capital's Kaowranbazar, Nabunbazar, Malibagh, Jatrabari markets on Friday (July 16) and talking to the vendors.
The price of rice per kg in the market has increased by 2 to 3 rupees. BR-28 rice is being sold at Tk 52 to Tk 53, Miniket at Tk 62 to Tk 64, Pajam at Tk 50 per kg, Nazir Shail at Tk 66 to Tk 70 per kg. However, Polao rice is being sold at the same price of Tk 90 to Tk 100.
Regarding the increase in the price of rice, Khaled, a retailer of Bhai Bhai Store in Malibag, said that the price of all types of rice had increased last two weeks ago. However, although the price of coarse and fine rice did not increase again in the last week, the price of medium quality rice increased again. However, coarse and fine rice are being sold at higher rates for the past 2 weeks.
Going to the fish market, it is seen that Tilapia fish is selling for Tk 160 to Tk 170, Rui fish Tk 240 to Tk 280, Mrigel Tk 250 to Tk 270, Shrimp Tk 650 to Tk 750, Pabda Tk 400 to Tk 500 and Rupchanda fish is Tk 850 to Tk 1000. money
After visiting the market, per kg eggplant (long) is 60 taka, round eggplant is 80 taka, bitter gourd is 60 taka, tomato is 80 taka, cabbage is 80 taka. In these markets, the price of potato is reduced by Tk 5 and is being sold at Tk 20 per kg. The price of onion has reduced and is being sold at Tk 45 to Tk 50 per kg. Rice pumpkin pieces at Tk 40 to Tk 50, each piece of gourd is sold at Tk 60 per kg, sweet pumpkin at Tk 40 per kg, Chichinga at Tk 40, Patal at Tk 40, Dherdas at Tk 40, Lati at Tk 60, Dhundul at Tk 50, Kachur Gut at Tk 50 . Raw chilli is sold at Tk 40 per kg. Raw bananas are currently being sold at Tk 25 to Tk 30. Papaya is being sold at Tk 40 per kg. The price of cucumber has increased and is being sold at 60 rupees. Kakarol is being sold at Tk 40 per kg, lemon juice is being sold at Tk 10 to Tk 15.
After checking the meat market, it was found that a kg of broiler chicken is being sold at 130 to 140 taka with a decrease of 10 to 20 taka. Layer chicken is selling at Tk 230-240 and golden chicken is selling at Tk 200-230 per kg. Along with chicken, the prices of beef and mutton remain unchanged. A kg of beef is being sold at Tk 580 to Tk 600. Khasi meat is being sold for 800 to 900 taka per kg.
