US President Joe Biden's aides have discovered more classified government documents in a new location, further embarrassing the political situation for the White House.<\/p>\n

The BBC reported on Thursday (January 12) that the US Department of Justice is reviewing the incident.<\/p>\n

Earlier, a collection of secret documents was found in a private office in Washington, D.C. Biden used that office after he left office as vice president.<\/p>\n

Former US President Donald Trump is facing a criminal investigation for allegedly mishandling classified documents.<\/p>\n

However, it is still unclear when or where Biden's aides found these new secret documents.<\/p>\n

About 10 documents were discovered in November at the Penn Biden Center, a think tank near the White House, but were only released this week.<\/p>\n

The documents reportedly include US intelligence memos and briefing materials related to Ukraine, Iran and the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n

While those documents relate to Joe Biden's time as vice president under Barack Obama, it is unclear why they were in the personal office he used afterwards.<\/p>\n

Secret documents are restricted to specially authorized individuals and there are rules about how they are kept and stored.<\/p>\n

It is noted that all White House records are required to be transferred to the US National Archives after the administration's term ends.<\/p>\n

The White House has not yet commented on the newly discovered documents, but CBS and other US media outlets have confirmed the discovery.<\/p>\n

When Biden's press secretary Karin Jean-Pierre was initially asked about the discovered files during her daily press briefing on Wednesday, she declined to answer.<\/p>\n

"It's being reviewed by the Justice Department. I don't want to say anything beyond what the president said yesterday," he said.<\/p>\n
