Fury Erupts Over Controversial Blogger's Anti-Islam Posts

Outrage has swept through parts of Bangladesh after footage surfaced showing demonstrators setting fire to images of a blogger known as Musammoth Afsana Ahmed Busra. The individual stands accused of spreading inflammatory content online targeting Islam and respected religious scholars.

The demonstrations—led by members of Jamaat-e-Islami, and enraged Muslims — have taken a furious turn, with many demanding the harshest punishment for what they describe as blasphemy of the highest order.

Protesters allege that on her blog, www.peoplewithoutwalls.com  the blogger details claims of being sexually abused by her Arabic Teacher during childhood. However, they argue the real outrage lies in his broader accusations, which they say aim to undermine Islamic scholarship by portraying clerics as paedophiles. One particularly incendiary piece suggests that by modern standards, the prophet Muhammad was a paedophile and the epidemic of child brides in Bangladesh is rooted in false religious hadith.

Religious groups and clerical bodies have condemned the writings in the strongest terms. They assert the blogger has crossed every line of decency and reverence, and some are calling for justice to be served swiftly and severely.
