Financial services will be available at digital booths in villages

47 percent of the people over 15 years are still outside the formal financial services. This is the initiative to establish at least one account service for all. In the village, all banks, financial institutions, MFS and insurance companies contracted from this booth can be opened and deposited in remittance bills and all types of utility bills can be paid from abroad.
The government's A2I project and a company called Jotun Business Solutions will jointly provide this service, yesterday, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the two companies at Sonargaon Hotel in the capital, the chairman of the Jotun Business Solutions and former MD of Bank Asita. In the event, 50 booths will be set up in Sirajdikhan of Munshiganj on the occasion. In the next three years, 90,000 booths will be set up in the next three years. Local entrepreneurs will be in the power of managing the digital booth. Account opening, utility bill payment, social security programme, remittance bill payment, educational bill payment, telemedicine, e-ticketing will be done from this time.
Arfan Ali said, despite the bank branches, Agent Banking, MFS, 47 percent of the people still over 15 years have no bank accounts. The ‘Village Digital Booth’ will play a role in financial inclusion. It will be helpful in the formation of smart Bangladesh, he said, considering the scope of business in the village level, it does not want to set up many bank branches but it will be possible to provide services at low cost as a result of all types of financial services from one digital booth.
A2I project director said, At present, A2I has held more than eight thousand digital centers across the country in Uniun, Upazila, Municipality and District, and has taken the initiative to set up digital booths in every village to reach financial services quickly.
