A farmer and his cow were killed in a sudden lightning strike while ploughing land with a cow in Ulipur, Kurigram.
The accident occurred in Ramdas Dhaniram Kanipara of the upazila on Tuesday (September 27) afternoon.
It is learned that the deceased farmer, Shahidul Islam (45), is the son of Zahur Uddin of that village.
According to police and local sources, Shahidul Islam was cultivating his land in the afternoon when it started raining with thunder. Suddenly, lightning struck the land, killing Shahidul and two cows on the spot.
Ruhul Amin, OC (Investigation) of Ulipur Police Station, confirmed the incident and said that the relatives have been given permission to bury the body of the deceased after completing the legal process.
