The forest department has arrested 38 fishermen with 18 trawlers in the reserved area of Sundarbans illegally entering the reserved area of Sundarbans.
They were arrested in the early hours of Sunday (September 4) from the Katka Avaranya area of the Sharankhola range of the Sundarban East Division of Bagerhat district.
Sundarban East Division Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Muhammad Belat Hossain said that the members of the forest department were on patrols in different areas of the Sundarbans, and they could see the fishermen with the trawler reserved for the forest.
He further said that later they arrested 38 fishermen with 18 trawlers. The arrested fishermen have been registered in various villages of Sarankhola upazila of Bagerhat and Patharghata upazila of Barguna district.
