There is a list of influencers, no evictions

Although a list of river, canal and pond encroachers was made about three years ago, the Kishoreganj district administration has not yet evicted them. The influential people are occupying a huge amount of Khas land and constructing various structures, even renting them out. They claim that they have known these lands as theirs since the time of their ancestors; they are in possession. Although the district administration says that the campaign will start according to the list after the current monsoon season; no one will be exempted.

According to the list prepared by the district administration, more than 100 acres of government land in 15 canals and ponds including the Brahmaputra, Narsunda, Suti and Chartaljanga rivers in Bajitpur, Tarail, Sadar, Hossainpur, Bhairab and Karimganj upazilas of Kishoreganj have been occupied by more than 100 local influential people. Among them, a huge amount of khas land in dags 9188 and 12160 of the Narsunda river in Sadar is in the possession of 21 influential people. Notable among them are Shahed Mia, Gomez Ali, Mainul Islam, Ramzan Ali, Taheruddin, Mohammad Naeem and others from Galimgazi village of Mohinand union. Abdur Rashid of Chartaljanga village and Menu Mia and Zilu Mia from Sachail village have occupied government land in dags 1414 and 4417 of the Chartaljanga river and Suti river in Tarail.

Influential people have also seized a large amount of land in plots 830, 130, 35 and 36 of Dipeshwar, Dhekia and Hajipur mouzas, which are part of the Brahmaputra tributary and Bogara canal in Hossainpur upazila. Notable among them are Tajuddin, Kafiluddin of Charbiswanathpur village, Faizur Rahman, Abdul Qadir, Maulana Abdul Karim, Abul Kalam, Siddique Hossain, Raisul Hasan Kennedy, Abdul Qadir Swapan of Jinari village, Hira Mia, Ronu Mia, Montaz Ali, Ripon Mia, Sirajuddin, and others.
