The installation of the dome metal structure in the internal containment of the reactor building of the second unit of the Pabna Rooppur Nuclear Power Project has been completed recently. The diameter of the upper part of the dome is 35.7 meters and the weight is 194 tons. This structure has been installed at a height of 51.7 meters at the design approved location. At present, the height of this structure stands at 60.5 meters.
Alexey Deiri, vice-president of the project contractor Atomstroy Export and director of the Rooppur NPP construction project, said that the installation of the internal containment dome is a milestone event for 2022. Last year, we completed such work at the first unit. As a continuation of this, the pre-assembly time for the installation of the current dome took only 151 days, which is 56 days less than the previous one. After completing the welding of the two parts of the dome, its concrete will be poured, he said.
The internal containment dome was completed in two stages. The lower part of the dome had a diameter of 42.8 meters and weighed 195 tons, which was installed on June 20 at the location approved in the design. Specialists from the branch office of Trust Roschem, a subsidiary of Rosatom's Engineering Department, are engaged in the assembly and installation of the internal containment dome.
They said that a 1,350-ton capacity LR-11350 crane was used to lift and install the upper part of the dome. It took 4 hours to lift this part of the dome.
