Kawsar Ahmed Chowdhury laid to rest in Azimpur

The funeral of lyricist and astrologer Kawsar Ahmed Chowdhury has been completed. He was buried at the Azimpur graveyard in the capital at around 10:30 am today, Wednesday, as per the deceased's last wishes. Earlier, the Namaz-e-Janaza was held at 9 am at Taqwa Mosque, 12/A, Dhanmondi.

Ershadul Haque Tinku, a relative of Kawsar Ahmed Chowdhury, confirmed the matter to Kaler Kantho.

Kawsar Ahmed Chowdhury died at approximately 9:40 pm on Tuesday (February 22) while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the capital. On Friday afternoon, his hemoglobin level dropped significantly and he needed blood urgently. He had been suffering from kidney and neurological complications for many days. He also suffered two strokes (hemorrhages in the brain).

On February 11, son Shafi Chowdhury told Kaler Kantho, "Father has multiple organ failure, I don't know what will happen!" Three days before, Kawsar Chowdhury was undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University in the capital.

He was then taken to the hospital in Dhanmondi and treatment began. On February 11, when his physical condition became critical, he was transferred to the CCU.

Kawsar Ahmed Chowdhury is primarily a lyricist. However, he is also known as an astrologer. He has composed songs for several bands and musicians in Bangladesh. Several of his songs sung by the band LRB, artists Samina Chowdhury, Lucky Akhand and Niaz Mohammad Chowdhury have gained popularity among the audience.

Popular songs written by him include, "Leave this silver guitar, I can't turn you away without deco," "Wherever your border is, my spring is there," "The time to read poetry has come in the solitude of the night," "Today, seeing the tears of this rain, I remembered," "Who do you love in the season?" etc.

He worked as an intelligence officer during the Bangladesh Liberation War under the Mujibnagar government in 1971 to collect information.
