Trump sues niece and New York Times

Former US President Donald Trump is suing the New York Times and his niece over a report published in 2018. He filed the lawsuit in a New York court seeking $100 million in damages.

The article alleges Trump's "suspected tax fraud." The lawsuit, filed in New York, alleges that Mary Trump and the newspaper's reporter conspired to obtain classified documents. The 56-year-old is alleged to have violated a nondisclosure agreement. In 2020, Mary revealed some of Trump's secrets in a memoir. She was the source of the report. Donald Trump has always denied the allegations in his niece's book.
