Coronavirus wheat imports have declined

Demand in the country has decreased due to the coronavirus pandemic in the last one year, the import of wheat has decreased in the 2019-20 fiscal year where wheat was imported. 64 lakh 38 thousand 320 tons, there was 52 lakh 99 thousand 850 tons of wheat imported in the recently concluded fiscal year 2020-21.

As a result, wheat imports have decreased by 11 lakh 38 thousand 470 tons in the span of one year. Meanwhile, the price of these two products has suddenly started in the demand of flour-matadar, which has been sold at 28 to 32 taka per kg where open flour has been sold a month ago. Now it is being sold at 32 to 33 taka.

According to the report of the government's marketing agency Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB), the price of white flour opened in the last one month is more than 8 percent, but the price of packet flour, matadar is also the price of this product.

Businessmen said that hotels and restaurants and other businesses were closed in the country during the last year after the coronavirus pandemic, which has reduced the demand for flour and matada.

This is why importers have also reduced the import of wheat, but now the coronavirus infection has reduced, now all businesses have opened, there is a trend of eating hotels and restaurants, and the demand for flour has gone up.

Yesterday, the retail market of the capital was sold at Tk 35 to Tk 36 per kg, packets of Tk 44 to Tk 45 and open meat at Tk 35 to Tk 40 per kg.

According to the sources of the Food Ministry, wheat imported 52 lakh 99 thousand 850 tons in the recently concluded fiscal year 2020-21. Lentil, sugar, turmeric, chicken prices have gone up

The price of lentil, sugar, turmeric and chicken has gone up in the retail market of the capital in the last one week. Yesterday, in the retail market, the price of lentils was sold at 80 to 85 taka per kg and 95 to 100 taka.

It is being sold at Tk 20 to Tk 250 per kg in the market yesterday, which was Tk 140 to Tk 250 per kg. And imported turmeric is selling at Tk 10 to Tk 10 per kg.

The price of broiler chicken has also gone up.5 to 135 to 145 taka per kg and golden chicken is being sold at 230 taka per kg.
