Another 199 people have died of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the second highest number of deaths in a single day in the country. This brings the death toll in the country to 15,792. Bangladesh has been witnessing more than 100 deaths from coronavirus for the past 12 days.
This information was given in a notification signed by Additional Director General (Administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services, Professor Dr. Nasima Sultana on Thursday (July 8). The notification said that in the last 24 hours, the highest number of 11,651 people in the country's history have been diagnosed with coronavirus. With this, the number of infected people in the country has increased to 989,219. Earlier, on July 6, the highest number of 11,525 people in the country were diagnosed with coronavirus.
Although samples of 38,024 people were collected in the last 24 hours, 36,850 samples have been tested. Where the detection rate is 31.62 percent. The total detection rate so far is 14.41 percent. The notification said that 5,844 people have recovered in a day. With this, the number of recovered patients is 8,56,346.
An age-based analysis shows that out of the 199 deaths, 107 were over 60. In addition, there are 47 people between the ages of 51 and 60, 28 between the ages of 41 and 50, six between the ages of 31 and 40, nine between the ages of 21 and 30, and two between the ages of 11 and 20.
Among those who died in the past 24 hours, 133 were male and 66 were female. Of these, 12 died at home, the rest died in hospitals. At the same time, according to division-wise statistics, out of 199 people, the highest number was 65 in Dhaka division, 37 in Chittagong division, 15 in Rajshahi division, 55 in Khulna division, three in Barisal division, five in Sylhet division, nine in Rangpur division, and 10 in Mymensingh division.
