Meghan Markle, the wife of Britain's Prince Harry, has given birth to a baby girl. The baby has been named Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. She will be known as Lily for short.
The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, and his wife, Duchess of Sussex, Meghan, announced the birth of their baby girl on Sunday, the BBC reported. The statement said Lily was born on Friday morning at a hospital in Santa Barbara, California, USA. Both mother and daughter are doing well. Lily weighs 7 pounds 11 ounces. Lily is the eighth in line to the British throne.
Lily is the second child of the Harry-Meghan couple. Earlier, on May 6, 2019, the couple welcomed their son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor. In the statement, the Harry-Meghan couple also said that they named their second child Lily after the nickname of British Queen Elizabeth II. 'Diana' was added to the name as an expression of love for Harry's late mother, Princess Diana.
It is worth noting that Harry and Meghan got married at Windsor Castle in May 2018. However, they stepped down from their royal duties in March 2020. They now live in California, USA.
