Former British Prime Minister Kear Starmer to step down MP

Former UK Prime Minister Sir Kear Sturmer has announced his resignation from the post of MP, and he wants to continue to work on preventing violence against women and girls, while focusing on international affairs.

The 2015 election will be held in London's Holborn and St. Pancras by election as a result of Starmer's resignation. It has long been known as the Labor Party's stronghold, according to a report by the British news agency BBC.

After leaving the post of Prime Minister last July, Sturmer said he will serve as an MP until the next general election in 2029. However, he suddenly announced his departure from the position of MP a few hours before he made his first speech at the House of Commons, the successor Andy Burnham.

‘It was a matter of ’great honor and good luck‘ to represent Holborn and St. Pancras for the past 11 years, ’now he is ready to hand over the 'batton'' or the turn of responsibility to the successor.

He said that working on international relations, defense, security, trade and technology in the rapidly changing world will be one of its main goals while also continuing to fight violence against women and girls who have been doing it for a long time.

Meanwhile, paying tribute to the former prime minister, current Prime Minister Andy Burnham said that Starma has served public life alongside people who are fighting for justice.

Burnham said the Starrmer's leadership has led the Labor Party to one of the biggest defeats and has built a solid foundation for the change of the country.

Kier Sturmer became prime minister with a huge majority in the 2024 general election, but he left 10 Downing Street last July, under pressure from a section of Labor MPs.

The Conservative Party has criticized Sturmer's decision to leave the post, said party leader Kemi Bedenek, who wished for the good of Starmer for the future, but also said she could understand the reason for not wanting to spend time with Labor MPs.
