What to do if bitten by a snake

Many people die from snake bites in the country every year. This fear increases especially during floods. During this time, the prevalence of various poisonous snakes increased. Most of the people who die of snakebite are working and the sole earner of the family. If we are a little aware, we can easily prevent this death.

How people get bitten by snakes-

1. While fishing in the field

2. During monsoons, when there is water all around, the snake takes shelter inside the nest for a dry place. Commonly takes shelter in haystacks, beds, kitchens, shelves, haystacks. There is a high risk of snake bite if you go to these places in the dark/silently.

3. Walking on the road in the dark at night (because snakes usually move more at night).

4. When a snake comes to eat eggs or chicks in a chicken or duck house

5. Sleeping on the balcony or in the courtyard during summer

What to do if bitten by a snake?

1. Don't panic. Because usually only 25 percent of people get poisoned after a snake bite.

2. The place where the snake has bitten cannot be moved. Tie it lightly with a thin towel or a cut part of a saree. If the affected area is moved, the poison will spread quickly in the body.

3. The patient should not be fanned and sedated, the snake bite should be cut with a blade, etc.

4. The patient should be immediately taken to the nearest hospital where anti-venom can be administered.

5. The patient should be observed for 24 hours from the time of snake bite. Poisoning usually occurs within 24 hours of a snake bite. If there are no signs of poisoning during this period, there is no reason to fear.

If you sweep the snake bitten patient is better?

Most of the country's snakes are non-venomous. Apart from this, only 25 percent of snakebite patients get poisoned. Therefore, those patients who are not poisoned by snakes, will be cured if Kaviraj treats them. But if the poisoned patient is not given an antidote, death is certain.
