Farid Uddin Ahmed, Vice Chancellor (VC) of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) in Sylhet, said, 'Truth and justice have triumphed. Truth has survived, lies have been defeated. I request everyone, if you do good, highlight it. If you do bad, highlight it too.'
He made this statement on Monday at the Shabiprabir foundation anniversary event. Through this, Farid Uddin Ahmed spoke publicly for the first time a month after the Shabiprabir students' movement began.
Earlier, on the occasion of the founding anniversary of Shabiprabir, the national flag was hoisted in front of the administrative building-2 at 10 am on Monday along with the national anthem. After that, wreaths were laid at the portrait of Bangabandhu at 10:10 am and a procession was also organized at Bangabandhu Chattar at 10:20 am. After the procession, the Shabi administration cut a cake at the university's round square at 10:35 am.
VC Farid Uddin Ahmed said, 'I do not want any favors from you. Even if you have done wrong, you will expose it. But do not mislead the entire nation with lies and misleading lies.'
He said, "I have seen that the university has been supported from various places. If this continues, we will reach the desired goal."
The VC said, "If a teacher, a student or a person comes and speaks the truth, we will take that speech seriously and make arrangements for a solution. We have never bowed our heads to injustice, and we will not do so in the future. We will stand for justice and truth. Today, truth and justice have triumphed. Truth has survived, falsehood has been defeated."
Addressing the students, VC Farid said, "There is no reason for students to be afraid. Mistakes can happen. Teachers will always look at everything from the perspective of teachers, parents, and guardians with a forgiving eye."
Meanwhile, the presence of ordinary students in the procession and various programs was observed to be low. On the other hand, the university's Chhatra League leaders and activists were seen highlighting the VC's various development activities through slogans.
