On Sunday (May 30), the Bangladesh Bank's Department of Off-Site Supervision issued a new directive regarding ‘banking activities amid restrictions imposed by the government to prevent coronavirus infection’.
It said that, in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus-related diseases (COVID-19), the government will continue to operate on a limited scale till June 6 to continue the limited banking activities.
The daily banking transaction will be held from 10 am to 3 pm. The concerned bank branch and the concerned department of the main office can be kept open till 4 pm for the performance of post-trans transaction.
Other instructions issued in DOS Circular Letter No-15 issued on April 13 of Bangladesh Bank will remain unchanged. That is, a branch of each bank's upazila city will be open on Thursday, Sunday and Tuesday and one branch within two kilometers of the city corporation area should be kept open every working day.
This instruction has been issued under the powers given by Section 45 of the Bank Companies Act, 1991, mentioned in the circular.
