Police recovered the body of a schoolgirl named Rahima Akhtar Lamia (10) in Kamalnagar of Lakshmipur. His body was recovered from the house of Abdur Rahim of Ward No. 5 of Charkadira Union of Upazila on Wednesday evening (October 14).
Lamiya was buried in the family cemetery at noon after postmortem on Thursday morning (October 15). The deceased Lamiya is the daughter of Abdur Rahim of the same area and a third class student of West Charkadira Government Primary School.
According to the police, Lamia was playing on the swing in the afternoon. At that time, the rope of the swing hung around his neck and he died. Reactions to the death have been mixed. Some say Lamia committed suicide by hanging herself out of spite for her parents.
Kamalnagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Nurul Abshar said that the body was recovered and sent to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. Necessary action will be taken if report is received. A case of wrongful death has been registered at the police station in this incident.
