Old woman's body recovered from pond in Lakshmipur

The body of an old woman named Champa Begum (65) was recovered from a pond in Lakshmipur. Police recovered the body from the culvert area of Bhabaniganj Union of Sadar Upazila on Saturday (October 11) afternoon. Later, daughter Taslima Akhtar's husband Shipon Hossain identified the old woman's body.

Laxmipur Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Mimtanur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Model Police Station AKM Azizur Rahman Mia and Police Inspector (Investigation) Mosleh Uddin visited the spot after receiving the news.

Champa Begum is the wife of deceased Ali Hossain of Calvert area. He has 5 daughters and a son. Son studies in a Madrasa in Chittagong. Girls are also married. He lived alone at home.

According to the police and local sources, some local children saw Champa Begum in the garden and around the pond looking for some lathi in the morning. In the afternoon, his body was found in the pond. The locals informed the police. Blood is seen pouring from the nose and mouth of the victim. A used mobile was recovered from the waist of the old lady. The police believe that the old woman suffered a stroke and drowned in the water.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Laxmipur Sadar (Model) Police Station AKM Azizur Rahman Mia said that the body of the woman was recovered and sent to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. After receiving the report, the cause of death will be known.
