'Sending Rozina to prison'
'Government wants to educate journalists'
— Mirza Alamgir
The BNP Secretary General has commented that the government wants to teach journalists a lesson by sending Prothom Alo senior reporter Rozina Islam to prison. The BNP Secretary General said, "By sending Rozina to prison, the government wants to teach all journalists that one cannot make too many leaps and bounds. This monster must be removed, the country must stand up with its head held high."
She made these remarks at a meeting organized by the Women's Party at the National Press Club on Friday, May 21, 2021, at noon.
The BNP Secretary General said, all the democratic institutions of the country have been destroyed. Now the country's bureaucrats are also the leaders of the government party. They openly talk about running the country and do politics. And the Awami League government is responsible for creating this situation. They have destroyed all sectors - law, justice, governance, economy, health.
Mirza Alamgir said that there are two monsters in the country now - coronavirus and the Awami League government. 'These two are destroying the country together.'
The Awami League monster is destroying and tearing apart the country's 50-year achievements. The Awami League's aim is to destroy Bangladesh. That is why, by establishing BAKSAL right after independence, it destroyed the democracy and freedom for which the liberation war was fought.
BNP standing committee members Mirza Abbas and Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, BNP Vice Chairman Shawkat Mahmud and others spoke at the discussion held under the chairmanship of Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal President Afroza Abbas.
