Nurses to take to the streets

The Nurses Association of Bangladesh (NAB) has warned that if the eight-point demand is not met, if the eight-point demand, including the banning of the initiative to merge the Independent Nursing and Midwifery Directorate with any other department, will be a strict movement against the nurses of the whole country.
At a press conference at 11 am on Saturday (November 29) at the Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association (CrabA) office, NAB Central President Bilkish Jahan Chowdhury issued a warning and presented eight-point demands in a written statement.

1. Stopping initiatives to merge the Independent Nursing and Midwifery Directorate with a different Directorate and form the National Nursing Commission.
2. Proposed Management, Organogram, Standard Setup and Carrier Paths Quick Approval and Realization.
3. Nurse promotions from ninth to fourth grade.
4. Upgrading the post of Nursing Supervisor and Nursing Instructor from 10th to 9th Grade.
5. Diploma Nurse-Midowees Certificate of Graduate (Pass) degree and introduction of Professional BCS for all Graduate Nurses.
6. Provision of the Regulation and Pay Structure for Private Health Care and Nursing-Midowiferi Educational Institutions.
7 .legal action against unregistered and untrained nurses-midows.
8. Nurse-Midowees Risk Allowance, Current Nursing Uniform Change and Bed-Patient-Doctor Ratio as per the creation and appointment of new posts.
Bilkish Jahan said, "We have been in the right-handed demands for a long time and have known the concerned departments, but have not yet found a solution. So we were forced to come to the press conference today. If the demands of the country are not met, we will be forced to take to the streets."
He also said that in 1977, the Independent Nursing Administration Service Department was established under the direction of the martyred President Gitaur Rahman, which currently exists as the Directorate of Nursing and Midwifery. But now efforts are being made to abolish it. Such anti-public health initiatives should be stopped and the National Nursing Commission should be formed.
He said that these demands are personal, rather, the quality of healthcare in the country is essential for increasing the quality and structural reform.
In the press conference, NAB Vice President Feroza Khatun, Vice President Jasmine Akhtar, Secretary General Akram Ali, Senior Joint Secretary General Marina Khatun, Joint Secretary General Golam Mostafa Bhui, Organizing Secretary Misar Hossain, Publicity Secretary Salahuddin, Alam Hossain and others. Other leaders of the organization were present.
