The weather forecast for the country's inland river ports till Friday evening says that temporary gusty or squally winds with a speed of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour from the south or southeast may blow over Dhaka, Faridpur, Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet regions. River ports in these areas have been asked to display naval warning signal number 1.
The Meteorological Office also said that day and night temperatures may increase slightly across the country on Friday.
The lowest temperature recorded in Sitakunda on Friday was 24 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature in Rajshahi on Thursday was 35.5 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature in Dhaka at that time was 30 degrees Celsius.
The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours till 6 am on Friday was 45 mm in Khepupara. Sandwip received 44 mm, Feni 43 mm, Gopalganj, Khulna and Chuadanga 34 mm and Nikoli received 32 mm. Dhaka received only 5 mm of rain during this period, the Meteorological Office said.
Weather conditions may change slightly over the next three days.
The forecast further said that the monsoon axis extends over Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and central Bangladesh to Assam. An additional part of it extends to the northwest Bay of Bengal. The monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate in the north Bay of Bengal.
Winds are blowing from the south or southeast at a speed of 10 to 15 kilometers per hour in Dhaka since Friday morning, which may increase to 25 to 30 kilometers per hour in temporary gusts. The relative humidity of the air in Dhaka was 93 percent in the morning.
