Farm eggs and broiler chickens, one of the main sources of protein and animal meat for relatively low prices, were the top choices of low-income people. But the prices of these two products have been increasing for the past few days. In the last one week, the price of broiler chicken has increased by Tk 10 per kg. And the price of red eggs of the farm has increased by two rupees.
This information is known after searching the new markets of Malibagh, Kauranbazar and Turag areas of the capital on Friday. But not only these two products, soybean oil, palm oil and desi onion are also among the products whose prices have increased in the last one week. And the price of sugar and narrow rice has decreased.
Broiler chicken was sold at Tk 150 to Tk 155 per kg in the retail market yesterday, which was Tk 140 to Tk 145 last week. And each Hali farm red egg is seen to be sold at 37 to 38 taka, which was sold at 35 to 36 taka last week. The government's marketing organization Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) said in its report yesterday that the price of eggs has increased by more than 10 percent in just one week. But why are the prices of eggs and broiler chickens increasing? In this context, Lokman Hakim, a chicken trader in the new market of Turag area, said that there is no supply of broiler chicken as per the demand in the market. The same is the case with eggs. He said many farms were closed due to not getting fair price during Corona. As a result, the production of eggs and broiler chickens has decreased. This has an impact on prices.Meanwhile, the government has recently fixed the retail price of soybean oil and palm oil, but the traders are not complying with it. Yesterday, the price of soybean oil and palm oil in the retail market increased another step. Opened soybeans were sold at Tk 130 to Tk 136, open palm oil at Tk 120 to Tk 126 and palm super at Tk 127 to Tk 130 per liter in the market yesterday. But last week the Ministry of Commerce held a meeting with traders and fixed the maximum retail price of open soybean oil at Tk 129, Palm Super at Tk 120 to Tk 130.
Soybean and palm oil have increased by Tk 7 per liter in the last one week after the Commerce Ministry as the government's marketing agency TCB fixed the prices.
The price of domestic onion has also increased. During the week, the price increased by Tk 5 to Tk 45 to Tk 48 per kg. However, the prices of sugar and narrow rice have decreased during the week. Sugar is being sold at Tk 75 to Tk 80 per kg, down by Tk 3. And the price of narrow rice has decreased by one taka per kg and nazirshail/miniket is being sold at taka 55 to taka 65 per kg. Among other rice, medium quality rice Payjam/Lata is selling at Tk 55 to Tk 55 and coarse rice Iri/Swarna is selling at Tk 45 to Tk 48.
