A sudden Kalbaishakhi storm in the last hours of the night. Along with torrential rain. The Kalbaishakhi lasted from 4 am to 4:40 am. The effects of that storm, which lasted for about 4 minutes, remained until noon. Water and electricity supply were not normal.
The storm uprooted trees, electricity poles, and destroyed homes. Boro crops and vegetables were damaged. Two people were killed in Kahalu and Shajahanpur upazilas after being crushed under trees. Several others were injured. The injured have been admitted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
The two deceased were identified as Shahin Alam Pradhan (42) of Majhpara village in Kalai union of Kahalur and Abdul Halim (42) of Bri-Kushtia village in Shajahanpur. Shahin Pradhan died on the spot while Abdul Halim died on Saturday afternoon after returning home after receiving treatment from Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. Kahalur and Shajahanpur police stations separately confirmed the deaths of the two.
