Locals have arrested an inter-district man in connection with a terrorist attack on an expatriate's house in Faridganj, Chandpur, and the looting of gold ornaments belonging to his wife.
On Tuesday, May 25, in the early evening, a group of 25/30 people on 11 motorcycles attacked and looted the house of Saudi expatriate Zafar Howlader in Chardukhia Union No. 11 of Faridganj Upazila.
Liza Begum claimed that since there were no male members in the house at the time, he beat up Jafar Howlader's wife Liza Begum and used a country-made weapon to take away about 11 tons of jewelry, including 6 gold bangles and a 2 tons gold chain around her neck.
At that time, upon the shouts of Jafar Hawlader's wife Liza Begum, the neighbors came forward and stopped the terrorists and arrested a man named Sujan. At that time, the rest fled, leaving behind a total of 4 motorcycles, including 2 Yamaha F-Jets, 1 Suzuki Gixxer and 1 TVS company Efasi.
The victims said that when they called 999, SI Abdur Razzaka of Faridganj Police Station came with a team and recovered the arrested Sujan and the four motorcycles they had left behind and brought them to the police station.
It is learned that the house of the arrested Sujan is Munshibari, Ward No. 6 of Raipur Upazila Municipality, Lakshmipur district.
In this regard, Liza Begum, the wife of expatriate Zafar Howlader, said, "I was alone at home in the evening when an unknown group of 25-30 terrorists suddenly attacked our house, grabbed my neck with weapons, and took away 6 gold bangles and a 2-bhari gold chain weighing about 11 bhari worth of gold ornaments from my hand."
In this regard, Faridganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Shahid Hossain said that villagers have arrested a man named Sujan and handed him over to the police. Further action will be taken after verification.
As of the writing of this report, preparations are underway to file a case at the police station.
