Dirt in the water, Wasa admitted

Water shortage throughout the year. Even that which matches is not fit to drink. People are affected by diarrhea even if they boil the dirty and smelly water and drink it. Hundreds of thousands of residents of Ward No. 54 of the capital's North City Corporation are suffering.

Acknowledging the dirt in the water, Wasa says that the incident happened due to the water connection being taken illegally. However, there will be no crisis after the construction of new pipelines and pumps is completed.

Due to severe water shortage in the last few years, every house in the area has been organized to collect water.

There is not a single house in the area that does not have waterborne disease patients. In most places, the water connection line is through the sewage line.
Locals say that even if they pay the water bill every month, they never get clean water.
The victims said that for the last one and a half months, toilet water is coming, water is being boiled and drained, people cannot survive without water. So we are forced to drink this water.  

They said, we are paying the monthly bill, nothing can be done with the water we are getting.
Another said, most of our people here are admitted to cholera hospital in Mohakhali with vomiting and loose stools. A few days ago, after suffering from vomiting-diarrhea, he died while being taken to the hospital.
WASA says four new pumps are being installed in the area along with a new pipeline to address the crisis.

Wasa managing director Taskeem A Khan said, this area is outside Wasa, our last frontier. Many have taken the line illegally, with broken or substandard pipes. Later I validated them without breaking the lines. But as the pipes are old and broken, waste water is getting in with the dirt and wasting the water. But Wasa water is not going bad. The work has started with ADB financing, the old stolen pipe will be removed and the new pipe will be installed, then the customer will also be legal, after that there will be no more bad water. Their problems will be solved.          

This extreme suffering with water in several areas including Kamarpara, Khaertek, Kaliartek of Ward No. 54 under Dhaka North City Corporation has been going on for a long time.
