US President Joe Biden's aides have discovered more classified government documents in a new location, further embarrassing the political situation for the White House.
The BBC reported on Thursday (January 12) that the US Department of Justice is reviewing the incident.
Earlier, a collection of secret documents was found in a private office in Washington, D.C. Biden used that office after he left office as vice president.
Former US President Donald Trump is facing a criminal investigation for allegedly mishandling classified documents.
However, it is still unclear when or where Biden's aides found these new secret documents.
About 10 documents were discovered in November at the Penn Biden Center, a think tank near the White House, but were only released this week.
The documents reportedly include US intelligence memos and briefing materials related to Ukraine, Iran and the United Kingdom.
While those documents relate to Joe Biden's time as vice president under Barack Obama, it is unclear why they were in the personal office he used afterwards.
Secret documents are restricted to specially authorized individuals and there are rules about how they are kept and stored.
It is noted that all White House records are required to be transferred to the US National Archives after the administration's term ends.
The White House has not yet commented on the newly discovered documents, but CBS and other US media outlets have confirmed the discovery.

When Biden's press secretary Karin Jean-Pierre was initially asked about the discovered files during her daily press briefing on Wednesday, she declined to answer.
"It's being reviewed by the Justice Department. I don't want to say anything beyond what the president said yesterday," he said.
