There may be restrictions on indigenous fishing

Fishing will be prohibited during breeding season to protect native species of small fish. However, the ban will be for a short period of time. The matter was informed by Secretary of Fisheries and Livestock Rawnak Mahmud.

The secretary also said that in this case the best results should be obtained by banning fishing for the least time. A technical committee will be constituted for this purpose. Based on their recommendations, upazila-wise piloting measures will be taken if necessary. There is no alternative to working collectively to conserve native species of small fish.
