Chinese Communist Party to amend party constitution

China's ruling Communist Party will revise its constitution at its next party congress, which is scheduled to take place in October, Reuters reported.

The news agency reported that the party constitution will be revised during the leadership change of the ruling party after five years. Some analysts say that this initiative could further consolidate President Xi Jinping's authority and status in the party.

Meanwhile, a draft amendment to the party constitution was discussed at a meeting chaired by Xi Jinping, without specifying the Politburo changes.

It is expected that President Xi Jinping's term will be extended for another five years in the third round of the congress, which begins on October 16.
