A goat worth 3.5 lakh taka has been put up for sale at the digital livestock fair organized by the Dhaka North City Corporation. This is the highest priced goat at the fair so far. The goat of the Beetle breed weighs 145 kg. Although the price of 3.5 lakh taka is outrageous, a buyer has offered the highest price of 2.15 lakh taka to buy the goat so far. But the goat has not been sold yet.
The goat was put up for sale at the digital market launched last Sunday by a farm called Amish Agro in Araihazar, Narayanganj. When contacted on mobile phone, one of the entrepreneurs of the farm, Matiur Rahman, said, "The age of the Beetle goat is 18 months, height is 3 feet 8 inches. The origin of this breed of goat is the Punjab province of India. The mother goat was brought from there. Later, some goats of this breed were produced by artificial breeding in our farm. The breed has a good reputation for producing milk and meat.
Apart from the goat raised for sale at the Digital Market, Amish Agro has two more goats of the Beetle breed, which are priced at 150,000 and 95,000 taka respectively. Apart from this, there is also a goat of the Barbary breed, whose price has been announced at 85,000 taka.
Amish Agro, which started two years ago, had raised 249 cows and 96 goats for sale ahead of Eid al-Adha this year. Many of these cows and goats have been sold. Now, 38 cows and 75 goats remain.
