Fuel oil price reduced by 1 taka per liter

After keeping fuel prices unchanged for two consecutive months, the government has reduced the prices of diesel, kerosene, petrol and octane by Tk 1 per liter for the month of May. The Department of Energy and Mineral Resources issued a notification in this regard on Wednesday evening.

According to the new rates, the price of diesel and kerosene per liter has been reduced from Tk 105 to Tk 104, while the price of octane and petrol has been reduced by Tk 1 to Tk 125 and Tk 121 respectively.

Earlier, on the first day of February, the price of diesel and kerosene per liter was increased by one taka from 104 taka to 105 taka. The government had increased the price of octane by one taka to 126 taka and petrol by 122 taka. The price of oil remained unchanged for the next two months, i.e. March and April.

The government has been automatically setting the price of fuel oil since March last year in line with the global market. As such, the government announces new prices every month. However, after the government took office, the price of fuel oil has been reduced, while in some months it has been kept unchanged. In some months it has increased.
