Allah created the night and the day. He has given superiority to Friday among all the days. The special honor and dignity of this day is described in the Quran and Hadith.
Five characteristics of Friday: Friday has been considered very important since the beginning of creation. In a hadith narrated by Abu Lubaba bin Abdul Munzir (RA), the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) mentioned five characteristics of Friday. They are: 1. Allah created Adam (AS) on this day, 2. Allah sent Adam (AS) down to earth on this day, 3. He caused Adam (AS) to die on this day, 4. There is a time on this day when the servant will ask Allah for whatever he asks, as long as he does not ask for anything forbidden, 5. The Hour will come on this day.' (Ibn Majah, Hadith: 895)
The special status of Friday: Friday has a special status with Allah Almighty. This day is of special importance for the Ummah of the last Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It was narrated from Hudhaifa ibn al-Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "Allah Almighty kept the status of Friday unknown to the previous nations. So the Jews made it Saturday. And the Christians made it Sunday. Then we came. He revealed to us the status of Friday." (Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 856)
The reward of praying on Friday for a whole year: Taking a bath on Friday and going to the mosque early is a great reward. It was narrated from Aws bin Aws Thaqafi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever takes a bath on Friday, goes to the mosque early, sits close to the Imam and listens attentively, for every step he takes, there will be a reward of a year of fasting and prayer." (Abu Dawud, Hadith: 345)
The reward of entering the mosque first: Entering the mosque first on Friday and listening attentively to the sermon is of great importance. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, "Whoever takes a bath on Friday and then goes to the mosque first, it is as if he has sacrificed a camel. Whoever enters the mosque after that, it is as if he has sacrificed a cow. Whoever enters the mosque after that, it is as if he has sacrificed a goat. Whoever enters the mosque after that, it is as if he has sacrificed a chicken. Whoever enters the mosque after that, it is as if he has given an egg in charity. Then when the Imam comes to deliver the sermon, the angels begin to listen to the discussion." (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 841)
Sins are forgiven: Narrated Salman Farsi: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Whoever takes a bath on Friday, purifies himself as much as he can, uses oil, uses perfume from his home, then comes to the mosque, does not leave a gap between two worshippers, prays the prescribed amount of prayer, then remains silent when the imam begins to speak, then Allah will forgive his sins between the two Fridays." (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 883)
Time for acceptance of supplications on Friday: There is a time on Friday when a person supplicates to Allah and Allah accepts it. It was narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If a Muslim supplicates to Allah for something good on Friday, Allah will grant it to him. Look for the time after Asr." (Abu Dawud, Hadith No. 1048)
