Anti-Russian resolution at the UN: Demands compensation for aggression in Ukraine

Russia must pay compensation for its invasion of Ukraine, a resolution was tabled at the United Nations General Assembly on Monday (November 14), Reuters reported.

In the 193-member General Assembly, 94 countries supported the resolution. 14 countries, including Russia, China, and Iran, voted against it. Among the members present, 73 countries, including India and Brazil, abstained from voting.

The proposal states that Russia must be held accountable for actions that violate international law. It must pay compensation for damage and casualties. It also calls for Ukraine to cooperate in collecting and preserving evidence against Russia.

Before the vote, Ukraine's representative at the UN claimed that everything from factories to residential buildings and hospitals had been targeted by Russia. The Russian representative at the UN called such a proposal absurd.
