A court has ordered Shahbagh Police Station to investigate the case filed by Chhatra Dal against 32 Chhatra League leaders and activists over the clash at Dhaka University (DU).
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Shanto Islam Mallick issued the order on Sunday (May 29).
Earlier, a case was filed in a Dhaka court against 32 leaders and activists, including Chhatra League central committee vice-president Tilottama Sikder.
DU law student Mansura Alam filed the case in court over the attack on a Chhatra Dal program at Doel Chattar. The court took cognizance of the case and asked the Shahbagh Police Station OC to investigate the allegations and submit a report.
The case alleges that on May 26, as part of the pre-announced central program of Chhatra Dal, the leaders and activists of the organization took out a procession from Doel Chattar. The Bangladesh Chhatra League Central Committee, Dhaka University branch of Chhatra League, various college branches of Chhatra League and various units ambushed the Chhatra Dal procession. At one stage, when the Chhatra Dal leaders and activists took shelter near Dhaka University, the Chhatra League leaders and activists attacked the Chhatra Dal leaders and activists.
Plaintiff's lawyer Abul Kalam Khan confirmed this information about the case to the media.
The accused in the case are Chhatra League co-secretary Rashed Ferdous Akash, organizing secretary Md. Nazim Uddin, Dhaka University Shamsunnahar Hall branch Chhatra League president Khadija Akhter Urmi, Dhaka College Chhatra League co-secretary Samad Azad Zulfikar, Chhatra League co-secretary Amanullah Aman, environmental affairs secretary Shamim Parvez and mass education affairs secretary Abdullah Hel Bari.
In addition, Deputy Office Secretary Md. Nazir, Deputy Reception Secretary Shahin Talukder, Deputy Office Secretary Khan Md. Shimul, Program and Planning Secretary Saddam Hossain, Dhaka University Jagannath Hall branch Chhatra League leader Abhijan Das Ant, Ekushey Hall branch leader Enayet H. Manon, Emdadul Hasan Sohag and Rakib Hossain of the same hall, Bijoy Ekattor Hall branch leader Mojibul Bashar. Salimullah Hall branch leader Nazimuddin Saimun, CUET branch Chhatra League leader Syed Imam Baker, Chhatra League activist Mahmud Chowdhury, Dhaka University Shahidullah Hall branch leader Sharif Ahmed, F Rahman Hall branch activist Abdur Rahim, Shahidullah Hall's Munim Shahriar, Suryasen Hall's Nahid Sadi, Jagannath Hall's Oishik Shuvo and Sourav Chakraborty, SM Hall's Sayem, F Rahman Hall's Riaz, Mujib Hall's Mahbubur Rahman, former Dhaka University branch leaders Sajjad, Mizanur Rahman Pikul and Abdullah Al Faryal.

The leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League's central committee, DU branch of Chhatra League, various college branches of Chhatra League and various units launched an ambush on the Chhatra Dal procession. At one stage, when the Chhatra Dal leaders and activists took shelter around DU, the Chhatra League leaders and activists attacked the Chhatra Dal leaders and activists.
DU student Mansura Alam, DU Chhatra Dal joint convener Ariful Islam Arif, DU Zia Hall branch Chhatra Dal president Tarek Hasan Mamun, Bijoy Ekattor Hall branch vice-president Tanvir Azadi, Dhaka College branch president Shahinur Shahin, Sahab Uddin Ahmed, Bangla College Chhatra Dal activist Abdul Qayyum, Dhaka Metropolitan North Chhatra Dal activist Shihab Uddin Shihab, Masud and Kabi Nazrul College Chhatra Dal activist Nahid were among many leaders and activists injured in the attack.
