Israeli forces have detained 6,500 Palestinians this year: PPC

The Israeli military has detained 6,500 Palestinians this year, according to a report released Monday (December 13) by the Palestine Prisoners Club (PPC), a human rights group. AP reports.

On Monday, the Israeli army conducted a raid in the West Bank overnight. They arrested 18 Palestinian youths. During the shooting, a 16-year-old girl was killed in the city of Jenin. The administration has identified her as Jana Zakaran.

According to the human rights organization, 153 women and 811 children are among those detained. Many of them have since been released. However, more than 2,000 Palestinians have been placed under administrative detention. Currently, around 5,000 Palestinians are being held in 23 prisons, detention camps and interrogation centers in Israel. Human rights activists have described this year as the bloodiest for Palestine since 2006. More than 200 Palestinians have lost their lives in the Israeli aggression.
