A mobile court has fined a man Tk 15,000 for organizing a circumcision ceremony with great fanfare at the port, ignoring the government's strict restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The food cooked for the invited guests was given to a local orphanage. The incident took place on Friday (June 2) in Gokuldaser Bagh area of Dhamgarh Union of Bandar. Bandar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shukla Sarkar conducted the mobile court as the Executive Magistrate.
UNO Shukla Sarkar said that a man from Gokuldaserbagh area of Dhamgarh union in Bandar organized a circumcision ceremony for his son with great fanfare on Friday. About 150 people were invited to the ceremony. The local UP member requested not to organize a public gathering during the Corona period. But ignoring the UP member's words, a huge pandal was built in the courtyard of the man's house and a massive food feast was organized.
Then on Friday afternoon, a mobile court raided the house. The owner of the house was fined Tk 15,000. The food cooked for the guests was given to a local orphanage.
