In 1948, the heat of the language movement was felt in Jhenaidah. In 1952, the full wave of the language movement hit this district. Jhenaidah was in turmoil. Nanda Dulal Saha was a fearless soldier of that movement. Even at the age of 88, he is still steadfast. But the only regret is that no one keeps track of him. He feels that it is necessary to honor the soldiers who have served the country.
According to local sources, even though he is 88 years old, he still moves around his beloved city alone without any help. Since his wife died 8 years ago, he is living a difficult life completely alone in Park Para of Jhenaidah. Language soldier Nanda Dulal Saha is the father of 5 daughters and 2 sons. Since everyone is in different districts, he is now completely lonely. He lives alone in a house. He also participated in the war during the Liberation War. His sorrow is that no one is looking after him.
Language soldier Nanda Dulal Saha said that he was secretly writing posters next to the Chobighar cinema hall. A policeman noticed and trampled the posters with his foot. He punched the police and fled. For this, he had to remain on the run for many days. He said that he did not receive any national recognition. However, he has no anger about this. During the Liberation War, he was shot in one of his hands. But he never received recognition as a freedom fighter. However, no one from the government is looking for him.
Locals say he is really suffering. Loneliness is eating away at him. They feel he needs government support.
Jhenaidah Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sadia Jerin said that everything that can be done for language soldier Nanda Dulal Saha will be done. More is also being planned. Plans are underway to have him as a guest at various state seminars and events. So that he can spend his time well. And so that the new generation can know the glorious history of our language. She also said that old age allowance will be arranged for him.
