Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md. Atiqul Islam said, "We have decided to remove the unregistered rickshaws and register 200,000 new rickshaws with QR codes."
He made these remarks at the 'Smart Haat, Smart Bangladesh' report announcement ceremony at DNCC's Nagar Bhaban in Gulshan on Wednesday (August 3).
Mayor Md. Atiqul Islam said, 28,000 rickshaws were licensed in Dhaka city, but now more than 1 million rickshaws are running. These are not in order, there is no database. So we have decided to remove the previous unregistered rickshaws and register 200,000 new rickshaws with QR codes.
Mayor Atiq also said, "We are working in various ways to save electricity. But battery-powered auto-rickshaws are wasting electricity. We have decided to take action by conducting a campaign against battery-powered rickshaws."
Regarding on-street smart parking in the capital, Mayor Atiq said, "Many people park their cars anywhere. This creates chaos on the roads. To get out of this situation, on-street smart parking will be arranged for 500 cars on a trial basis in Gulshan-Banani," he said.
At this time, Mayor Atiq called for developing Dhaka North City as a 'smart city' by adopting online services. He said, if you see any problems like open manhole covers, dirt on the sidewalk, waterlogging, etc., please take a picture and upload it to the 'Sabar Dhaka' app. I promise, we will take steps to resolve it within 24 hours.
