218 more people died from COVID-19

In the last 24 hours, 218 more people have died in the country due to the virus. With this, the death toll has increased to 20,685. Earlier, on July 27, the highest number of deaths in the country's history was 258.

This information was given in a notification signed by Additional Director General (Administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services, Professor Dr. Nasima Sultana, on Saturday (July 31). The notification said that 9,369 people have been identified with corona in the last 24 hours. With this, the number of identified people in the country has increased to 1,249,484.

In the last 24 hours, 30,976 samples were collected. However, 30,980 samples have been tested. Where the detection rate is 30.24 percent. The total detection rate so far is 16.14 percent. The notification said that 14,017 new people have recovered in a day. With this, the number of recovered patients is 1,078,212.

An age-based analysis shows that of the 218 deaths, two were over 100 years old, four were between 91 and 100 years old, 15 were between 81 and 90 years old, 33 were between 71 and 80 years old, 66 were between 61 and 70 years old, 37 were between 51 and 60 years old, 37 were between 41 and 50 years old, 17 were between 31 and 40 years old, six were between 21 and 30 years old, and one was under 10 years old.

Among those who died in the past 24 hours, 134 were male and 84 were female. Of these, 13 died at home, all but one died in the hospital. According to division-wise statistics, the highest number of deaths was recorded in Dhaka division at 67, followed by Chittagong division at 55, Rajshahi division at 22, Khulna division at 27, Barisal division at 10, Sylhet division at 9, Rangpur division at 16 and Mymensingh division at 12.
