"Bangladesh ranks tenth in corona vaccine program"

Health Minister Zahid Malek has said that Bangladesh ranks tenth in the world in terms of COVID-19 vaccine efforts. Not only that, but the infection and death rates are also lower than many developed countries.

He made this announcement at a press conference at the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS) in the capital on Tuesday (February 22).

At a press conference, Health Minister Zahid Malek said that out of the 285 million collected, 185 million vaccines have been administered. Meanwhile, 16 people have died in the country in a single day from Corona. The detection rate is 6.77 percent.

On February 26, 10 million people across the country will be vaccinated against COVID-19 simultaneously. The Health Department has taken up this program to include rickshaw pullers, floating communities and special excluded people. The Department of Health organized a press conference at BCPS to provide details on this.

 
At the press conference, Health Minister Zahid Malek quoted a Bloomberg report and said that Bangladesh is in the tenth position in the world in the corona vaccine program. And the infection and death rate are also lower than in many developed countries. In the corona pandemic, 2,900 people have died per million in the United States, 2,400 in Russia and 350 in India. While the number of deaths in Bangladesh is 170. Bangladesh has been successful in the vaccine program compared to many developed countries in the world.

Referring to the ongoing process of the Covid vaccine, Zahid Malek said, "As the government is busy with the second dose and boosters on February 26, there will be some delay and confusion in getting the first dose. So those who have not yet been vaccinated should get it quickly."  

At that time, the minister also said that so far, 103.3 million doses have been given in the first dose; which is 86 percent of the main population. And 78 million doses have been given in the second dose, which is more than 65 percent. And 3.2 million booster doses have already been given.
