Iskander Mia is an independent director of AB Bank.

Former Bangladesh Bank executive director Md. Iskander Mia has been appointed as an independent director by private sector AB Bank. The central bank has reportedly given no objection to his appointment on Sunday based on the bank's application. He worked in the money laundering prevention department for a large part of his career.

Iskander Mia went on post-retirement leave from the post of Deputy Chief of the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) on June 30, 2021. He previously worked there for a long time when it was the Prevention of Money Laundering Department. He was promoted to General Manager (current Director) in 2012 and Executive Director in May 2018.

 

After joining Bangladesh Bank as an Assistant Director in 1988, he was sent to Pressone Security Printing Corporation Limited. During his career, he served in the central bank's Human Resource Development, Foreign Exchange Policy, Banking Regulations and Policies, Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit, Agricultural Credit Division, Bangladesh Bank's Rangpur Office, Appendices Management, Foreign Exchange Inspection, Payment System and Governor's Secretariat.
