The Arab League, an alliance of Gulf and Arab states, welcomed the UN Human Rights Council's move to quickly establish an international independent commission of inquiry to prove Israel's human rights violations in Palestine, in a statement on Sunday (May 30), Anadolu news agency reported. The statement said that this resolution, adopted by the UN Commission on Human Rights in the context of the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian areas of Sheikh Jarrah, Silwan and Gaza, reflects the willingness of the international community to stand up for their responsibility for the genocide and human rights violations that the Palestinian people are being subjected to, said Saeed Abu Ali, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League.
Earlier, on May 27, the UN Human Rights Council adopted a resolution in Geneva on the "serious human rights situation" in a special session on the "grave situation of human rights" in the occupied Palestinian territories to establish an international independent commission of inquiry to prove Israeli human rights violations. Palestine, Pakistan and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) played a key role in bringing forward the resolution.
