Rule of law and prevention of corruption can increase investment in the country: Peter Haas

US Ambassador Peter Haas said that political stability, rule of law and prevention of corruption will play a helpful role in increasing US investment in Bangladesh. US companies are interested in investing in various sectors including energy in Bangladesh. The United States will stand by this country's energy crisis. US companies will also work on renewable energy projects, in addition to gas, coal or diesel-based ones.

He made these remarks while responding to questions from reporters while visiting Summit Meghnaghat Power Station-2 in Sonargaon, Narayanganj, on Thursday. He was accompanied by Summit Group Chairman Mohammad Aziz Khan, Vice Chairman Latif Khan, GE Gas Power South Asia CEO Dipesh Nanda, Country Leader Naushad Ali and others.

Aziz Khan said that Summit Group is working to resolve the power crisis. Next June, 590 megawatts of electricity will be added to the national grid from the company's Summit Meghnaghat Power Station-2. And it will be supplied at the lowest price. This power plant can run on gas, diesel and even hydrogen. The carbon emissions here are 60 percent less than coal-based power plants and 40 percent less than other plants. It has been built jointly with GE Gas Power Company of the United States.
